      • Jan 2017 - Present

I facilitate the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) lesson plans to at risk African American and Hispanic middle and high school students, to reduce drop out and pregnancy rates. The program is meant to increase self respect and have students understand what their values and goals are for their futures.

At project YES I help students with their homework, sometimes one-one with students that need more help. My greatest accomplishment in this position is teaching a special needs student learn how to do multiplication in a way that made sense for her. She feels a lot more confident, and always asks to do math with me.

I developed the Financial Empowerment Center. As I launched the center I did so by creating, workshops and taught financial literacy to Urban League clients. The workshops are in powerpoint format, with hands on activities, group work, and take home handouts. There were 9 workshops including workshops focused on saving money, identity theft, budgeting, credit, and others. At the end of the workshops clients get the service they came for including utility and rental assistance (this is for repeat clients that use utility and rental programs.) Clients also have the opportunity to sign up for additional Urban League services, and look through a list of jobs that are in the community. I am very proud of the program that I developed and how it has helped the Tucson community. Show less

    • Special Education Teacher Assistant
      • Jan 2015 - Aug 2016

The first semester I worked at Sierra I was in a room with the same special needs students all day. I got to work with special needs students one-one, who needed extra help with their work and focusing. I make sure all students are on task. If the teacher was not there I was in charge of assisting the substitute teacher understand and deliver the lessons, and making sure the students behaved. Occasionally I was excited to teach the reading lesson. The next semester I was a floater going to different classrooms. I was working with different special needs students in an integrated classroom setting. I was a compassionate disciplinarian as well as someone students could talk to and get help from. Show less

I assisted members of the Tucson community in applying for healthcare through Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and The Marketplace. I would answer questions about different plans, and help them pick the right insurance plan for them. I also went to outreach events promoting the service that PCAP (Pima Community Access Program) was offering in terms of helping with the insurance application process, and events we had to for people to learn more about their options on healthcare. I would attend visits with foster children and their biological parents and observe the visit. I would write reports on what happened during the visits and those reports are used in court and used to document wether the children go back to the parents. I also did transportation for the children, where I was trained to use 3 types of car seats before and after the visits.
