Spanish Tutor
-
ago. de 2020 - jul. de 2021
I provide personalized, one-on-one Spanish tutoring to elementary and middle school students, with an emphasis on literature and culture. Each week, I use multimedia sources (e.g. articles, podcasts, videos), narrated by native Spanish speakers throughout Latin America and its diasporas, to spark critical conversation about current events. Then, I provide a short lesson and practice exercises designed to strengthen specific language concepts. We devote the last part of our session to reading age-appropriate works of fiction together to build our vocabulary, confidence, and stamina as readers.

My Fulbright research focuses on the application of international human rights law to the local context of indigenous peoples' right to participation in Bolivia and Peru. Combining an in-depth analysis of each country's legal framework with insights gained from fieldwork in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and Madre de Dios, Peru, my project aims to contribute to the understanding of what implementation gaps remain between international standards, national laws, and local practices.
