I am delighted to write a recommendation for Thea Wevelstad. I am currently Thea's Master's thesis supervisor, as well as her instructor for the final course in the Master's program in Business and Economics at BI Norwegian Business School. From my numerous interactions with Thea in the past year, both in discussions about the thesis project, as well as in the classroom, I can confidently say that Thea is a very energetic, self-driven, goal-oriented, and perceptive person who has a particular aptitude for quantitative analysis. The project that Thea has chosen to work on for her Master's thesis, together with a colleague of hers from the Master's program, concerns the nature of duration dependence in the labor market, that is the negative effect of an unemployed individual's unemployment spell on his or her probability of finding a job. The project is very challenging and requires the manipulation and analysis of large data-sets, as well as the application of statistical models that are not taught at the Master's level and therefore require substantial independent work to grasp and utilize. Thea has done an outstanding job so far. I have been particularly impressed by the level of organization, speed, and precision with which Thea and her colleague performed some of the most challenging steps in the project, as well as the dedication and drive to deliver an excellent final product. In addition to the excellent analytical and numerical skills, Thea is also a very good presenter. She communicates and collaborates very effectively with others, as I have had to opportunity to observe through my interactions with her. On the basis of my interaction with Thea as a thesis supervisor and course instructor, I have no doubts that Thea will be a highly valuable employee for any organization. Therefore, I can confidently recommend her for any position that requires deep analytical and quantitative skills, and an energetic, organized, and dedicated person.
