Summer Intern (Science Teacher)
-
Jun 2016 - Jun 2016
I was selected to be on a two-week immersive programme designed not only to inform participants of the work that the charity does, but also to learn about the UK education system, and the inequalities in it. During the second week, I travelled to an unfamiliar location and taught science to students from different year groups and varying levels of abilities. I particularly enjoyed engaging with the students not only in an academic context, but also to just have discussions regarding their queries about higher education.

Global Citizen
-
Jun 2015 - Jun 2016
I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Global Citizenship Programme run by UCL. It was a two week programme where we focused on certain "grand challenges" - the strand I chose was the Global Health in Future Cities route. We worked in teams assigned to particular cities and had to address medical, political, ethical and environmental issues facing the country. This involved liaising with other countries to negotiate and develop policies with mutual benefit to overcome problems.
