Evaluation of Physical and Chemical Methods for Improving the Debundling of CNTs in Aqueous Dispersions - A comprehensive literature study on the basics of solubilisation and CNT dispersion preparation, with emphasis on aqueous media, and the characterization of CNT dispersions (especially UV-Vis-NIR, Zeta-Potential, AFM). - Derivation of Figures of Merit (“degree of debundeling”) to characterize the degree of separation of the CNTs in aqueous dispersions and methods to measure them. - Experimental verification of the degree of debundeling achievable with anionic surfactants (SDS, DOC and SDBS) depending on the absolute concentration, implementation of data analysis routines especially for UV-Vis-NIR spectra (peak fitting, reduction of scattering background, using Origin, Excel). - Identification and evaluation of potential surfactant sets to realize dispersions of CNTs with a high degree of separation. - Design of a workflow and execution of own processing experiments with these surfactant sets including proper characterization to obtain an optimized degree of CNT debundeling.
