Thad was responsible for transferring Immunofluorescent assay (IFA) diagnostic technology from an acquisitioned company, Gull Laboratories. He made it possible to manufacture IFA products in the very humid climate of Cincinnati where otherwise it takes a very dry climate to be successful in this technology. This was crucial for the success of producing IFA products at Meridian Bioscience. He was well liked and respected in his field. I found Thad to be a pleasant person to interact with and viewed him as a man of integrity and kindness. He would be a valuable asset for any company or organization for which he works.

Analyzed and designed experiments to correct problem areas of production processes in the IFA diagnostic kit product line and Epstein-Barr Virus antigen production for the the ELISA product line. Trained in project management. Supervised the activities of 6 to 8 technologists in maintaining cell cultures, virus propagation, and harvesting of virus infected cell cultures for the manufacture of immunodiagnostic test kits. Ensured that the department was properly trained and followed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Coordinated development projects for improving department productivity such as scale up of B-cell cultures and virus production, and modification and validation of production processes. Viruses included EBV, HSV, CMV, and VZV. Coordinated the technology transfers of processes for new product introductions. Prepared and/or presented status reports and briefings of lab activities and projects. Prepared detailed validation reports of process modifications. Combined information technology with GMP and laboratory procedures to improve traceability, trending, and manufacturing efficiency. Conducted product development projects involving EBV cell culture techniques scaled to 36L stir flasks and TFF, and immunological profile studies involving IFA’s, PAGE, and Western blot.
