  I am one of the shift managers at Layne's, so I am in charge of the day-to-day running of the store. I make sure all employees show up to their shifts on time and follow health code while they're on shift. I am in charge of making sure we have enough stock to get through each day, and make orders to our supplier when we run low on certain items. As a shift manager, I not only focus on the details of each employee's duties, but I must keep the big picture in mind and make sure the store as a whole is running smoothly. Shift managers are the middle-men between our regular team members and our general manager. Therefore, I must balance my loyalty to our management team with my obligation to keep our employees safe and comfortable at work. I have to make sure that, as a shift manager, I earn the respect of my employees, but that they still view me as someone they can approach with their work-related problems.
