Bio
Thomas T.
Mr. Terry Yong was my colleague in our novel one-legged jack-up project. He worked as a Mechanical and Piping Lead for the project. But first I would like to explain this jack-up design so that we can understand his technical capacity in full picture. It is the world's first single-leg jack-up with one big leg at the center. And the column is attached to a very big mat with ballast tanks in it. And there is a big hull encasing the column on top of the mat. As the design was a novel concept, Mr. Terry has to come out from scratch with all piping system designs related to the hull and the mat ballast and de-ballasting system. It was really challenging work and he did it. So it was the proof of his capacity in engineering and design work of marine piping systems. And he also has very good knowledge of functional systems for offshore vessels such as FPSO, LNG, and FSRU. He also possesses not only technical knowledge but also leadership abilities and can go along well with team members. And he takes his responsibilities seriously and accomplished his assignment on time by working countless hours of overtime. I recommend him for any position he takes in the future, I believe that he will perform his best and will be a good asset for any organization he works for.

Terry was one of my outstanding undergraduate students who is always performance beyond expectations. He is a good leader who is able to lead his teammates and the given research study to a new high as an undergraduate student! Terry’s final year project (FYP) on Forced Convective Heat Transfer Enhancement with Perforated Pins was published in 2013 on the ISI Journal: Heat and Mass Transfer (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00231-013-1186-z). Most impressively, Terry’s FYP involved not only the experimental measurements, but also the numerical modelling, which is indeed a very tough approach for an undergraduate. Overall, Terry is truly a team player with very strong communication and interpersonal skills. I envision Terry’s interdisciplinary approaches will definitely enhance the organization that he may join.
