I use my Master's degree in Pastoral Theology everyday to create copy for planned giving digital and print resources that compliments the practical and educational element surrounding charitable gift planning solutions that are inherent in these resources. The gift planning resources should inspire the user to give, and plant seeds of discernment to create a legacy gift in their estate plans to help sustain their parish. To make planned giving development "Catholic", it must convey Church teaching on stewardship, and convey an authentic Catholic spirituality. I use the Magisterial documents such as the Catechism, the Compendium on Social Doctrine, Encyclicals, the documents of Vatican II, and quotes from Archbishop Naumann, in addition to scripture. My focus is on legacy giving development for parishes, schools, and ministries. I work directly with pastors and their staff on a customized legacy gift development project. Launching a parish legacy society in conjunction with celebrating the parish's founding anniversary, in five year increments, has been a great strategy to launch legacy gift development and a parish legacy society. We use licensed Crescendo planned giving content to create our educational materials and resources. Planning and executing estate planning and Social Security seminars has been a good development strategy for making the invitation to give a gift at death, directly to the faithful. I manage and edit our Crescendo website, CatholicPlannedGiving.com. I use MissionInsite data to present parish boundary population forecast data to pastors. MissionInsite has also given me the ability to rank parish faithful demographics by age and income. This helps the pastors and I understand the years ahead as wealth transfers from the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers down to family and charity which, subsequently, allows me to prioritize which parishes have an urgency to engage their parishioners, today, with legacy gift invitations.
