      I work in multiple areas in corrections. There is the intake area where the inmates are brought in by the officers and are seen by a nurse to determine if they are fit for confinement or not. We may have to sent them out to the hospital before they can be brought into the jail for high risk medical reasons or they may go to our infirmary where we take care of both medical and psychiatric patients. We also house over a thousand inmates on a daily basis and they receive medications throughout the day that are delivered by the nursing staff. Initial assessment upon entering the jail, blood draws, IV's, dressing changes, medications and transcribing doctors orders are some of the tasks of the corrections nurse. Show less
