My responsibilities were to perform EKGs, notify appropriate personnel of critical findings, prepare EKG for Doctor to read, and pulling and filing of charts. Before becoming an EKG technician, I was a Monitor Room Technician. My responsibilities were to monitor heart rhythms of multiple hospital patients, notify nurses of changes in rhythms or anything critical, file monitor strips in patient charts. I was hired by Battle Creek Health System in January, 1993 as a Unit Secretary. My responsibilities at that time were to pull and file charts, translate and enter Dr's orders into the computer as well as onto each patient's card, assemble charts and tear down charts, answer call lights and notify nurses of patient's needs, answer phones, as well as many other clerical duties.
