  Wound Care Clinician Performs and assists with wound care assessments for patients per Attending Physician’s orders. Develops individualized wound care plans per each patient’s unique needs. Initiates wound treatment and plans of care for patients diagnosed with pressure injuries/ulcers, surgical sites, arterial ulcers, venous ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, moisture-associated skin damage, and Kennedy Terminal ulcers. Educates patients, families, and caregivers regarding the patient’s wound care needs, treatment options, and deterrents to wound healing. Infection Control Assesses culture results for any positive CLABSIs, CAUTIs, VAPs, and VAEs. Rounds on all patients regularly to ensure that infection control procedures were being executed by medical, contracted, kitchen, and pharmacy personnel. Collaborates with department managers regularly to identify any issues or concerns that required monitoring. Developes educational in-services for medical staff regarding infection control policies, vaccinations, proper utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), and hand hygiene. Other roles and responsibilities include acting as the Employee Health Nurse from 2001-present day, performing annual flu vaccinations and PPD's for all hospital employees, conducting annual fit testing for N-95 masks, and obtaining information for/submitting information to LTRAX.   Wound Care Coordinator Founded the first wound care program for Kindred Hospitals. Launched a wound care program model that was instituted throughout all Kindred Hospitals nationwide. Developed educational in-services for the nursing staff regarding current wound care treatments and wound management techniques. Assessed new wound care products and assisted in developing a standardized formulary utilized throughout all Kindred Hospitals nationwide. Performed cost-analysis of new wound care products. Performed weekly patient rounds with staff nurses and physicians. Attended weekly interdisciplinary team rounds. Worked in conjunction with the Respiratory Team to manage the care of ventilator-dependent patients who had, or were at risk of developing, pressure injuries secondary to the use of respiratory equipment.
