Sense of Arrival Supervisor / Floor Housekeeper as part of Management Trainee Program
-
Jun 2015 - May 2016
As part of Rooms Division Management Training I was fortunate enough to spend 6 months in Housekeeping department as a Floor Housekeeper and 6 months in Front of House, as Sense of Arrival Supervisor. The two positions were quite different. As a Floor Housekeeper I rarely got the chance to meet the Guests. The daily challenges consisted of working under continuous pressure to achieve timely turn around of rooms with very high DC standards in all Guest bedrooms, giving feedback and motivating room attendants, working with other departments closely to deliver outstanding customer service. Flexibility, ability to work under pressure and time management were the key to success in the department. Sense of Arrival Supervisor position gave me the opportunity to interact with Customers on daily basis. It was our team's responsibility to deliver a warm, friendly, professional, authentic and bespoke welcome to all Guests from the minute they step foot on the Forecourt. Making sure that the team comply with Dorchester Collection Standards consistently and continuously was a daily task, and results were achieved by ongoing training and spot check sessions. Working with a very diverse team contributed towards my personal growth and professional abilities. Both positions, together with various HR Training sessions and projects made the 12 months experience a very valuable and memorable one. Show less

Having previous experience at Front desk, Reservations and F&B in Parknasilla Resort and Spa, the move to Duty Management position was almost seamless. I was empowered to take responsibility for daily business around all aspects of the operations, from Reception, F&B service, Guest's complaints, organisation and supervision of team members. It was a fantastic experience with a great team. Working under pressure in a very busy restaurant with focus on good food combined with quick turn around of tables. The position gave me an insight of a great example of business, that had positioned itself perfectly on the market, to respond to particular market segment's demand for certain product. As my first workplace since my arrival to Ireland, Fogarty's Pub in Crusheen allowed me to get to know Irish people, customs, traditions, meet new people and make new friendships. Some of the duties included stocktaking, customer service, purchasing and financial reporting to the owner, training in new staff, dealing with challenging situations. Fond memories and valuable experience. Part of Second- Year Placement in Shannon College of Hotel Management. My very first Hotel position. Due to the trust that management showed in my abilities, and the motivation it gave me to do more and better every day, by the second half of the 12 months placement I was working in both Rooms Division (Reception and Reservations) and Food and Beverage (breakfast and restaurant dinner service), I was taking initiative and handling guests complaints and I was training in new comers. Great company to work with, great experience, fantastic team and priceless training. Show less
