Griffith University values the contribution of its student leaders – they are significant and valued members of our campus communities. Tegan Lather participated as a Student Mentor for Griffith Architecture and Design Peer Mentoring Program in 2018. The Student Mentor role is an important student leadership role within the Griffith community as they support the transition of commencing students to the university environment. In this role Tegan demonstrated a willingness to assist and motivate others, and share their knowledge with great enthusiasm. Tegan was provided with training and opportunities to build upon her communication skills, leadership skills, active listening skills, diversity awareness, relationship building skills, and through this has developed her confidence and leadership.

In 2015 I achieved my goal of raising $100,000, which was achieved through a variety of fundraiser including the ZOO RUN. To date we have raised over $185,000 and are currently working towards establishing breeding programs of endangered native wildlife on the Gold Coast. 2011: Ask Animals Anything | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $10,000 Read-A-Thon | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $2,000 2012: Car Rally | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $10,000 Read-A-Thon | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $2,000 2013: Car Rally | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $15,000 Read-A-Thon | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $2,000 Zoo Run | Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Wildlife Hospital | $20,000 2014: Zoo Run | Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital | $10,000 2015: Zoo Run | Wildlife HQ Free the Bears Fund | $5,000 Zoo Run | Monarto Zoo | $6,700 Zoo Run | Sea World Research and Rescue Foundation | $19,500 2016: Zoo Run | Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, and Secret Creek Wildlife Sanctuary (Run on Save the Bilby Day for both the Save the Bilby Foundation as well as charities associated with the location) | $28,000 Zoo Run | Sea World Research and Rescue Foundation | $20,000 This includes hundreds of hours of Sausage Sizzles and other small fundraising events.
