  The Morning Call is a daily newspaper based in Allentown, Pa. I interned at The Morning Call for three months during summer 2011, covering municipal meetings, features and breaking news. Specific articles include a story on Allentown officials' efforts to bring more fruits and vegetables to inner-city children and a study on Pennsylvania charter schools, which found cyber charter schools only making small gains in learning. I continued to freelance for the paper over school breaks and contributed articles including a front-page story on the more than 100 bomb threats that the University of Pittsburgh received in 2012.   I spent the summer of 2012 interning with The Denver Post, the largest newspaper in the Rocky Mountain region. As a full-time city desk intern, I wrote for both web and print editions, using social media to highlight and break news. I covered a wide range of topics from the High Park fire, which set more than 87,000 acres ablaze and displaced thousands of homeowners, to medical marijuana to feature stories, like a piece on a local community garden. I contributed on-scene the day of the Aurora theater shooting. The staff received a Pulitzer Prize, a Scripps Howard Award and ASNE Journalism Award for its coverage.
