Special Education Teacher

Aug 2017 - Present
As a Learning Specialist, I assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans for their learning setting. If students are enrolled in general education classes, I adapt lessons or suggest modifications to general education teachers to meet the needs of students. In my time at Legal Prep, I have worked as a Self-Contained lead teacher, a Co-Teacher, and a General Education teacher. I have co-taught the following classes: Algebra 1, Pre-Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, World History, U.S. History, and English and all grade levels. I have taught the following self-contained classes: English 1, English 2, and English 3/4. Additionally, I have taught two general education Freshman English classes and a senior Creative Writing class. Each year, I have worked developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a Caseload of 15-20 students and updating IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals. I am the direct contact to discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Show less
