  GirlVentures is a non-profit organization for young women ages 11 to 18. Through outdoor adventure activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, hiking and kayaking, GirlVentures empowers girls and young women to recognize and foster their own unique strengths. GirlVentures provides a supportive and safe environment for girls to explore and express these strengths with an all-female staff. With positive female leaders, GirlVentures uses the out of doors as space for girls to feel empowered to find their own voice and develop a sense of leadership, which in turn becomes a part of their daily lives in school and their community. As a lead instructor, I facilitate adventure activities and provide many opportunities throughout each trip for girls to explore their individual strengths and voice, as well as create a sense of community.
