  Previously employed as a research technician in the department of Crop Science at the University of Illinois. My role was to support the ongoing initiatives of the AS Davis Research Group in the areas of integrated weed management and resilient cropping systems. Research projects focused on novel methods of weed population control in commercial field crop settings: utilizing multi-pronged approaches to solve the complex problems facing today's conventional and organic producers.   Drove the growth of a certified organic operation from 350 to 850 acres over 3 years, becoming the largest organic farm in the state of NJ. Developed a grass finished beef production system: from genetic selection and program design to pasture crop rotation, livestock handling protocol, infrastructure construction and finishing. Utilized intensive grazing and a rotation of annual and perennial forages to build fertility for cropping operations. Handled all pastured swine, broiler and layer system development. From swine genetic selection through finish, created a commercial pasture swine program from scratch. Conceived of and built summer and winter farrowing facilities. Experimented with an annual crop rotation for pastured swine. Deep bedded pack barn construction for swine and poultry. Developed and fabricated a robust, mobile watering system for hogs. Designed and built mobile layer coops. Worked to develop a poultry program that focused on efficiency, productivity and animal welfare. Managed all annual forage, perennial forage and grain crop production. Planned and executed crop rotation strategy: from soil sampling to seed orders, tillage, planting, cultivation, grain and silage harvest. Large farm scale composting system development: Sourcing large quantities of inputs, adapting existing equipment to mix compost, monitoring material progress, and performing land application. Complete agronomic management for pasture, forage and grain crops: soil sampling, sourcing inputs, working with vendors and certifiers, and maintaining organic records. Handled maintenance and repair of a sizable fleet of farm and construction equipment as well as all farm vehicles. Managed relationships with contractors, vendors, marketing partners and processors.
