I am the 2019-2020 President of Advocates for Girls’ Education at the University at Buffalo. This is a UB Undergraduate Student Association recognized permanent club that represents and empowers women on campus through volunteering, discussion-based meetings and social events. My duties consist of but are not limited to conducting meetings, brainstorming event ideas, reserving meeting space, organizing and collaborating with my E-board to complete events and representing our mission as a club.

I worked with the director of development, to create value and maintain necessary functions of the organization. For a semester, I worked to help refugee families enroll at school for the first time, show them the bus system in the neighborhood, teach life skills, make phone calls and send referrals for doctor appointments, and assist in the application for some of their most important identification cards and services. The internship was filled with experiential learning opportunities that has changed my professional outlook. For a semester, I was able to connect and interact with the children by - managing and maintaining calm environment- helping with homework.During my time at the Boys and Girls Club, I acquired the ability to become a strong leader and a great problem-solver as I often was the only employee in the room and had to deal with various different situations that would arise. I also would maintain the immediate safety and behavior of the children, keeping everyone calm and collected while doing their homework in the designated homework room.
