I am currently working as a Grade 4 Educator covering a Maternity Leave post that will last over a period of 4 months in total. Prior to this I have been working as a “Super-Sub” where I not only work across all grades and age groups within the school but subjects as well. This involves ultimate flexibility and adaptability to ensure high quality learning and engagement is being carried out on a daily basis. Overall, this covers Early Childhood Development Stages (ECD) up to K1 inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and thereafter from K2 up to Senior Year in High School This position has already allowed me to become a versatile educator involved in preparing for various classes, sport coaching and creating a safe and fun environment for my students to not only become actively involved in their learning but thrive in every aspect of their lives. Worked at an exceptional company where I gained immense personal and professional growth across multiple opportunities in diverse working environments. The technical aspect of my job involved working with children from the ages of 4 months up to 17 years old where I carried out various roles depending on the age group but mostly I am involved in promoting three pillars namely education, exploration and discovery. I ensure the children are exposed to all three throughout each day of their vacation. There was also a social aspect to my job which involved interacting with people and guests from all over the world and ensuring that their stay at our resort is unforgettable as well as participating in various events such as on-stage dance, acting and acrobatic performances to sporting activities on a daily basis. Working for this company ticked many boxes in my life and since leaving I have learned it ticked boxes I didn't even realise I had that have helped mould me into the adaptable, capable young professional I am today. I was responsible for leading and managing a preschool which is offered to children ranging from the ages of 3 months to 5 years old. Duties here included developing and pioneering various strategies to build the preschool following curriculum based learning by also creating a safe and stimulating learning environment that encourages a love for learning and guides our learners to reach their full potentials with strong foundations in place. Apart from this I was tasked with managing the administration of the school including fee collections and accounts, registrations, staff development, evaluations and scheduling, human resources and overseeing the schools’ day-to-day operations. I was able to successfully carry out these tasks and go over and above the expectations that were set out for me before accepting this project. My responsibilities include moulding and guiding my Grade 6 learners to be able to express themselves successfully in the English language in both written and oral forms. This is a harder task as it may seem as these learners are doing English as a Home Language subject but it is there Second Language to their Mother Tongue. I am also always involved in any extra-curricilar activities such as sport and any event planning that takes place. Being a teacher is my way of making a difference. I believe that someone with a true heart for teaching is there not to teach their favourite subject but rather to focus on teaching the child. Show less
