Orientation Leader

Assist with transition of new first-year students, transfer students, and their families as they begin their relationship with the institution through New Student Orientation (NSO). We aid in the academic, social, and cultural acclimation to the University. Orientation Leaders also serve as a resource for new students and their families by providing honest and current information about any and all aspects of the U. Lastly, lead outdoor trips in Utah for the incoming first year students.

COVID-19 UROP Summer Undergraduate Researcher

Receive $1200 stipend through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) during the Summer 2020 semester. Will be doing research on the Multiplexed Detection of COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 Biomarkers for Diagnosis and Surveillance under PI Lars Laurentius. This project will support efforts on two fronts (1) evaluate effective recognition elements to selectively target COVID-19 antigens and immune response markers; and (2) obtain preliminary results to demonstrate the effectiveness of a multiplexed POC diagnostics test. Have weekly meetings to discuss ways to improve the program and how to diversify the students within the program at the University of Utah. The Bennion Center Scholars apply their academic interests to meet a real social concern through a Capstone Project with a Community Partner and Faculty Mentor. The program is a way for students to implement a positive change in their community.
