14-week internship with UTC's Center for Student Wellbeing to collaborate and create a suicide prevention training program for UTC's occupational therapy students. Level II Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Student

-480+ hours (12 weeks): Full time level II fieldwork student working in upper extremity orthopedic care with hands-on experience.-Gained advanced clinical practice in evaluation, treatment, and documentation of various upper extremity injuries and orthopedic cases.-Gained experience in splinting a variety of upper extremity injuries including distal radius fractures, various digit fractures, CMC arthritis or OA, humeral head dislocations, and more.-Collaborated with OTs, PTs, CHTs, nerve conduction specialist, physicians, and surgeons directly to maximize care for individuals dealing with a variety of upper extremity injuries.-Conducted an in-service presentation on alternative and conservative management of CMC OA.

Level II Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Student

-480+ hours (12 weeks): Full time level II fieldwork student at Erlanger Hospital in the acute care setting. Extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of a variety of neurologic, cardiac, orthopedic, and other complex diagnoses in the acute care setting, including work in the intensive care unit. -Gained experience in splinting orthopedic conditions in the intensive care unit setting.-Gained experience and competency in evaluation and treatment of complex cases in critical care and intensive care units, including individuals affected by COVID-19.-Collaborated with various OTs, COTAs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, physicians, nursing staff, and case managers in evaluations, treatments, and documentation.-Carried out an in-service presentation for OT staff on occupational injustice in terms of racial equity and equality in the health care setting, focused on how race and social injustice has an affect on meaningful occupations for individuals.-Carried out an in-service presentation for OT staff on COVID-19 and it's effect on occupational health and well-being in the health care setting, as well as long term effects.-Carried out an in-service presentation for OT staff on various ways of implementing cognitive evaluations during a typical OT evaluation and how to properly document and write goals for cognition in the acute care setting.
