Emma Colven, Ph.D.

Tara helped me to incorporate ArcGIS Story Maps into a new undergraduate course I was designing and teaching in spring 2021. Her technical skills and assistance were absolutely crucial to the success of my course. Tara worked closely with me to design assignment instructions and coached me in the various functions on Story Maps. She also visited my class several times to deliver tailored workshops for the students and made herself available to meet with my students and I throughout the semester. One of my students was subsequently 1 of just 3 students across the university to win a competitive University Libraries Undergraduate Research Award. The student identified Tara in her application essay as having contributed to her learning and academic success. I cannot recommend Tara enough.

I direct TAMU-CC's Quality Enhancement program, I-Know, for SACSCOC reaffirmation that aims to strengthen students' digital information literacy skills. The campus-wide initiative is designed to teach undergraduate students the skills and dispositions that will enable them to confidently find, evaluate, communicate and create information in a complex digital landscape.
