Working with Academic Programs International (API) has been one of my most varied, educational and rewarding roles. API is a US-based third party study abroad provider who sends US university students on study abroad programmes across the globe. Under the leadership of the Regional Director for the UK I was solely responsible for the company's Scotland based programmes. I oversaw up to 30 students at a time based across three different sites (University of Edinburgh, Stirling University and Heriot-Watt University). The varied tasks of this role included but were not limited to: - Planning and organising diverse and interesting cultural programmes for the students which included multi day excurions. I completed all bookings and ran the events. - Developing new cultural events and excursions. I implemented a new multi day excursion to Mull and Iona which is still conducted. - Providing pastoral and cultural support for students as well as being their emergency contact in Scotland - Liasing with partner institutions to secure accommodation and ensure their academic experience ran smoothly - Completing site visits with potential future partners from US universities - Monthly budget and expense reporting for all of the Scotland programmes expenditure I received consistently high feedback from students in end of programme evaluations and have been lucky enough to stay in touch with many of my students after they have left Scotland.
