One of my recent interaction with Tara Dunkel was at her day program while Precision LTC Pharmacy was having a clinic for their individuals I was so impressed to see how all the staff works together and showing great support for their individuals by holding their hands during the vaccination, giving encouragement, affection & helping them dress. I asked Tara what is the secret of seeing your staff so dedicated and are working for so many years at Maryhaven? Her response was we show appreciation & the staff love what they do at Maryhaven & we are one big family that show Comradery for each other! I know from my own personal experience that a team that echoes these actions is the result of good leadership and being a role model for their staff. Tara was involved at the clinic and showed presence as well as engaged with her staff by providing support & expressing her appreciation through out the clinic. She took time to give me a tour of the clinic and explained their program. Tara made me feel welcomed & expressed kind sentiments for our partnership. Tara values relationships and has a keen eye for client success which is also their foundation when caring for their individuals at Maryhaven.

I've had the privilege & honor of supervising Tara Dunkel for approximately 15 years. Tara is one of, if not THE hardest working professional I've had the good fortune of knowing. Tara's a team player, took on far more than what was in her purview, and did so without blinking an eye. Tara had strong attention to detail when it came to any responsibility. Safety, perfect audits, hosting events, hiring talent, and supporting the masses. Tara had many talents that displayed themselves, It all depended on the day. She could lead the most challenging of meetings, yet fix the AC. Calm an upset parent, yet teach a new curriculum to a room of 50. Leadership skills were superior as she exercised the revered motto of supervising while walking around. Boots on the ground was the way she managed, and would stay later than most to tie up loose ends. She cared deeply for those that worked for her and went out of her way to pay attention to special moments in their lives. Celebrate when it was called for, and grieved when that was the unfortunate reality. She knew how to keep the workforce happy despite tight fiscal limits. She would often very often use her personal money to purchase small treats for the staff during their birthdays/holidays or chip in for special moments in their lives. Tara had an open door policy, even when the door was closed. She made herself available to her team (day or night). She communicated with her workforce of approximately 30 staff members via text so they felt a sense of belonging. She would hold weekly staff meetings and share pivotal information about the goings on of the Agency to keep everyone in the loop. Again, this made a world of difference to the staff as they felt having a voice & being part of something larger was pivotal. Tara had strong clinical skills yet, depended strongly on her clinical staff. She was aces in a crisis situation while keeping cool. A flood, a pandemic, a winter nor'easter, Tara was strong and always dependable. She came in when most staff stayed home to enjoy the snow. Taking seriously the safety of her staff was always a priority, that is what led her to become a safety trainer. Within the darkest days of the pandemic, she was able to support her team in ways they will remember for years to come. On the phone, navigating the "new pandemic age" was scary, yet she remained hopeful and calm. Unfortunate for me, the space is limited to be braggadocios about Tara and her vast skill set. There are not enough letters or words to describe the absolute pleasure it has been to work beside her. Watching her acquire new skills, perfect older skills and take on all that she has was ever impressive. No matter how difficult the task, how insurmountable the assignment, Tara was able to hurdle anything in her way. She DID the work! All the while, supporting those with alternate abilities. She loved every person that walked through the door, had a deep sensitivity and it showed. Tara: A cut above the rest.
