The Western Fair District (WFD) is a multi-faceted, not for profit, Agricultural Society, based in the heart of London, Ontario. WFD is a member driven organization supported by an extensive group of volunteers and staff. Through its programming and facilities it is a leading year-round agriculture, entertainment, commercial, sports and recreation destination for residents of the city of London and far beyond, anchored by its signature event, the annual Western Fair. During my time at the District, I focused on creating engaging content for a vast audience in terms of demographics; leveraging organic social media and managed digital advertising campaigns for multiple owned and operated events, as well as a variety of in-house business units. I monitored the performance of, and optimized ads in order to generate results within budget. I efficiently prepared reports and presented results to management, and utilized that data to create effective future campaigns. Throughout my time at The District, I was able to increase the social following by 40% on Facebook and 80% on Instagram. I also initiated an Influencer Partnership Program, in which I selected local influencers whose values/demographics aligned with target audiences for WFD events. In 2019 we were awarded Second Place for the Social Media/Mobile Campaign from IAFE (International Association of Fairs & Expositions) for the Western Fair's digital efforts - a large component of this was the "I Spy Pie," Guerrilla Marketing Campaign. This interactive initiative harnessed online and guerrilla marketing tactics to create a scavenger hunt for WFD followers. 10 cardboard pies were hidden throughout the city of London, once found winners redeemed their pie for two SuperPasses to the Western Fair. Utilizing Facebook and Instagram, this campaign generated a total of over 150,000 impressions and 100,000 people were reached.
