As the Finance and Contracts Manager, I am the key analytical and strategic resource for the budgeting, performance, contract and financial management to MSDI that supports significant new projects and continuing growth in revenues and research activity. My role provides critically important strategic financial management, budgeting capability and expert advice to MSDI's Chair, Director and COO and directly supports MSDI program leaders through the development of budgets, undertaking financial and activity costing, providing a range of specified reports and development of benchmarking tools to support business decision making and setting of measures and targets. I also provide specialist support on research costing and pricing, contract development and commercial contractual matters, and act as the liaison between research and external parties, including engaging the Monash legal team for advice as necessary on Intellectual Property Rights and that contracts comply with University requirements and the law. Given the responsibilities of this role, I act with a high level of independence and maintain relationships across all areas of Corporate Finance including, Financial Resources Management (FiRM), Research and Revenue Accounting (R&R), Strategic Procurement and Purchasing (P2P), Treasury, Tax and Leasing, as well as the Office for General Counsel (OGC), Contract Management Office (CMO), Monash Innovation and the Monash Research Office (MRO) for MSDI to ensure effective delivery of services within a complex environment.
