Taña’s work with LGBTIQ+ communities in the mental health space has been nothing short of incredible. A true force for change and passion to match!
Brahmmi Kumarasamy
I had the opportunity to work alongside Taña during my time at We Are The Mainstream. Taña is an enthusiastic, thorough, creative, adaptable and thoughtful Community and Project Coordinator - a delight to work with! Taña was instrumental in successfully designing and coordinating 3 major events - International Women’s Day (IWD) 2020, IWD 2021 and IWD: Girls’ Day Edit 2021. This role enabled Taña to utilise her exceptional event/logistical management skills to platform passionate people of racialised backgrounds who experience misogyny in various fields. Taña was in charge of volunteer coordination, venue layout and design, attendee liaising and more. Much of the volunteer briefing and event coordination, especially in the lead-up to IWD 2021, took place remotely due to COVID-19 limitations. Event programming was adjusted to suit the growing changes, enhancing Taña’s strategic-thinking and prioritisation/organisation skills. Taña created and facilitated an interactive, soothing and visually captivating intersectional body image workshops for IWD and The Girls’ Edit, where matters of self-love, body positivity, body neutrality, and the history of Fat Liberation were discussed.
