Hired on as sole paralegal to guide nine lawyers and two assistants in a start-up environment with a primary focus on leading day-to-day operations of several litigation practices with heavy caseloads. As our team grew, I facilitated training for new team members. As a litigation paralegal at Laffey, Leitner & Goode, I manage complex, document intensive product liability and toxic tort litigation and transportation litigation which includes the defense of catastrophic injury cases involving multi-million dollar settlements in jurisdictions across the country. I analyze team member skill sets and assign projects based on same. Project lead on large research projects and document review teams. I implemented a firm-wide EDRM (electronic discovery reference model) as part of the e-Discovery process and counsel clients on best practices. I am lead coordinator of the emergency response process for our transportation clients. Conducting and analyzing in-depth, confidential investigations relating to adverse parties, clients and experts to facilitate going-forward case strategies are also among my responsibilities. Effectively present project and case status reports in written and verbal forms to team members at all levels in a timely manner. I facilitate and manage large document databases, including the implementation of review protocols and supervision of the review process. In addition, I develop practice management tools and best practice processes and train employees at all levels to use same. Finally, I participate in all phases of trial including post-trial motions and appeals.
