I was an intern in a 7th-grade special education math class at Willis Jepson Middle School. My role was to assist the teacher by keeping the students on task. The first half of my internship was virtual. I attended the classes via Zoom and helped the students work through problems. During the second quarter, I was able to attend classes in person with my mentor teacher and her students. Through this internship, I learned about how to teach mathematics and how it can best be taught in a virtual and non-virtual environment. Show less

I supported a graduate student as they conducted research on several experiments. These experiments were focused on ecosystem engineers and their influence on the chemical environment that surrounds them. We were also interested in the effects that these influences have on other residents of the same habitat. Another experiment was focused on the physiology of mussels, specifically whether mussels are sensitive to variations in seawater chemistry.
