I worked in the Outreach & Education department to create educational videos for the Texas Aquatic Science Cirriculum (https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/resources/aquatic-science). I created two educational videos that will be used by hundreds of teachers across the state and potentially shown to thousands of students. I confirmed the toxicity of a list of native TX plants in the TNLA database (https://bestoftexas.tnlaonline.org/plant-database/) so they could be labeled "child friendly" and created a flyer showcasing the child-friendly native plants of the Rio Grande Valley. During my internship I also assisted with some Houston Toad habitat restoration field work in East Texas, and attended a Project Wild (https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/project-wild) Workshop to learn how to use the activity book and teach Project Wild lessons. Conservation Biology Research Intern

Partnered with Greening Youth Foundation, the NPS and USFWS, I worked as a remote herpetology research intern, collecting and organizing data from the NPSpecies portal to create spatial density maps of all known turtle species present across the NPS system. Learned to code R using RStudio to create maps and organize data. I authored and illustrated a page coloring book on the subject of turtle trafficking for children and their families to learn about the turtle trafficking crisis that plagues North America. Enrolled in and earned my Master Herpetologist Certificate through the Amphibian Foundation's Master Herpetology online course. Show less
