I worked in the lab of Dr. Quasar Saleem Padiath studying a rare demyelinating disease called autosomal dominant leukodystrophy (ADLD). We know that patients show an overexpression of the nuclear lamina protein, lamin B1. To elucidate the cell-specific mechanisms of this disease I established patient-based iPSC lines and differentiated these iPSCs into the disease-relevant CNS cell types.
