  Project Manager of a Digital Switch project ($22 million) for Aramco. Duties included: engineering the design and technical specification for the digital switches; developing project proposals and contract documentation for soliciting bids from vendors worldwide; technical and commercial evaluation of the proposals from vendors in the USA, Europe, and Japan; selection of the vendor and award of the contract; detailed contract negotiations with the vendor (Fujitsu) Managed a strategic project to establish satellite communications between the Company's Headquarters and remote oil rigs and production facilities. The project entailed co-ordination with the National Regulatory Authority, space segment allocation, procurement and commissioning of the satellite network. The satellite earth stations were procured from Scientific Atlanta. The project included new containers, local cable, multiplexers, and fiber optic cable, civil and electrical works. Implemented a cost-effective international network between Saudi Arabia, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The network supporting voice, data, and video applications over several E1 and T1 links over satellite and submarine cable. Co-ordinated the provision of the services with AT&T, British Telecom, Bell Canada, Singapore Telecom, VSNL in India, Dutch Telecom, Batelco in Bahrain, Etisalat in UAE. Project Manager for the engineering and coordination of the installation of Fiber Optic cable between Aramco Headquarters and several Saudi Telecom Central Office sites. Planning, scheduling, and monitoring of installation activities. Engineering the multiplexing and routing of the traffic on the new transmission link. Co-ordination for the space, power, and termination of optical and multiplex equipment at the carrier's buildings. Final acceptance tests and integration of the new link (STM-1) in the carrier's junction network.
