In July 2014, Broadcom decided to shut down its entire base band chipset business, including the former Nokia modem. Around the same time as we moved to Renesas, I started to work as program manager for Security SW. This was entirely new position, the organization was created to cover security services that were required by modem. I had up to 15 persons reporting to me in line organization in Finland. In addition to that, I had project resources/ working closely with teams in France, Japan and later in the US. During this time we developed SW asset that was reused in several chipset projects. Typically there was more than one chipset/ customer project running in parallel, each having their own specific customization requirements. The team was responsible for end-to-end solution development and delivery; including ROM code, embedded SW, PC tools, security infrastructure (servers) and features like secure boot, certificates, secure storage and DRM. My personal tasks have included requirement setting and architecture definition, process definition, multi-site project management, schedule planning and follow-up, issue and change management, and customer support. My tasks included requirement analysis, documentation, hands on build environment and tools development, process development, training and deployment follow-up. This position came to its natural end after full process deployment.
