      Throughout my summer I participated in a programme called NCS (National Citizen Service) where 15-17 year olds across the UK get involved in a 4-week programme that consists of 3 phases to develop skills, make friends and provide opportunities for the future. Within this programme I went through 3 phases; 1 - Residential This first phase consisted of outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, rock climbing, surfing and abseiling. During this first phase I was introduced to my team and built my relationships with everyone. 2 - Skills Festival During this second phase we stayed within University dorms and experienced life as a University student would whilst participating in various workshops. In addition we stayed in dorms and had to cook, clean and organise the day for ourselves increasing our independence skills. 3 - Social Action Finally within our teams we participated in social action within out local area. Fundraising events, campaigning, raising money and awareness for the cause which was the environment for our group and finally pitching our ideas to a panel of executives in a Dragon's Den mock presentation.
