  The objective of the project was to understudy a limestone mine site owned by KOKA Ltd. This site was one of the 200 quarries and gravel pits in the Mineral Group (member of the STRABAG SE Group; leading producers of high-quality mineral raw materials in Central, South-East and Eastern Europe). Key Learning Outcomes ▪ Studied and acquired a depth of understanding of the comprehensive short and medium mine plans; ▪ Monitored drill and blast procedure in the presence of the Open Pit Operational and Technical team. ▪ Studied applicable Hungarian legislation eg: General Blasting Safety Regulations & MS ZEN 13018 Standard; ▪ Undertook sampling and analysing of the excavated raw materials according to ISO 3310-1 Standard and MSZ EN 18280 European Standard; ▪ Observed and practiced the Work Health and Safety XCIII Act, 1993 Hungary.   This was a collaborative study project between KOKA Ltd and the University of Miskolc. The objective of the project was to minimize the risk of not being able to sell mined products at the preferred price after it was determined that the abrasion test result had significant affect on product price. Key Accountabilities and Achievements in this role: ▪ Maintained clear and collaborative communication between the mine site and the research laboratory; ▪ Developed practical size distribution ranges based on statistical calculation; ▪ Engaged in continuous improvement activities; ▪ Sampled residual fine sand product from screening water, then undertook the appropriate test series and implemented hydro cyclone, which regained the fine particle size fractions; ▪ Understudied European Standards on preparation and processing of crushed stone, aggregates for concrete, surface treatments for roads, mechanical and physical properties of aggregates as well as methods for the determination of resistance to fragmentation; ▪ Scheduled sample deliveries and LA tests; ▪ Used measure and test equipment according to MSZ EN 1097-2 European Standard; ▪ Ran 2 test series using a Los Angeles machine with 11 steel spheres; ▪ Processed and evaluated successful test results; ▪ Complied with all labour safety requirements, maintained safe work practices and conditions within the laboratory areas, in accordance with KOKA Ltd and the university occupational health and safety guidelines; ▪ Developed, reported and analyzed sheets (Excel, macro and VBA coding).
