The more and more websites we built at GruffyGoat, the more we realized how burdensome it was for our clients to be solely responsible for collecting and presenting their content. It consistently was a huge bottleneck in our process but we had no system (or bandwidth) on the project management or design team to help. As I was managing accounts and learning about our clients, my years of marketing experience seemed to click in and many of our planning calls would become brainstorming sessions. I would see opportunities where I could help a client by creating a new sitemap, developing a homepage content outline, or talk through the user flow. However, as Director of Accounts, managing an average 25-30 projects at a time, I did not have the time to move on those ideas. When we grew our accounts team, a natural progression of my skillset was to create a new role focused on content. We came up with Content + Strategy all on our own, not realizing there was a world of content strategy out there already in existence. It. is a world of strategy, UX design, information architecture, etc. that I have loved diving into, challenging my natural strengths, and growing my role within our company. Today, my meetings get to focus on strategizing with our clients, brainstorming, walking through their website experience, all with the eye on the ultimate prize - a new website. I'm a bit of a utility player. Having been in so many roles in my past, as well as at GruffyGoat, I fill in where needed and can approach each of our projects with an understanding of each part of the project. Every client comes to us with a different level of understanding and education in marketing and website building so I meet them where they are at. Sometimes we start with the "ABCs" and other times we immediately dig into an existing website strategy. My actual job changes depending on what our clients' needs are and where I can fill in the gaps.

We build awesome and affordable websites and my job was to make sure that every project we worked on is moving forward and that our clients are ultimately satisfied with the experience. Not only do I want our clients to be satisfied but also our widespread team.As a small and growing start-up, we needed to make sure we had processes and systems in place to help manage our projects and workflow. We also needed to begin focusing on outbound communication with our team and our clients. Enter me. Alongside managing our projects and communication, I would make sure that we have systems in place to keep things running smoothly and consistently. As Director of Accounts, I helped grow and train the accounts team bringing on two new account managers. They were so great at their jobs it allowed me to transition to a new role more strategic and creative, Director of Content + Strategy. In 2019, I moved into a board position with the Brickyard. My goal in 2018 had been to, literally, build the space, get programming started, and start creating a wide community for our members. We created the Brickyard as a way to build an entrepreneur support community in Greenville. Our goal was to build a community that provided entrepreneurs access to what they need here, in Greenville, SC. We did this in many ways: coworking space for entrepreneurs and small teams so that they are surrounded by community, educational events and programming, and mentors. We first connected people to others and also provided resources and programming such as Founder's Insitute and the Greenville Chamber's Minority Business Accelerator. We hosted programming like these in our space and also provided coworking space for small business owners who want to be around like-minded people. We dah regular co-working opportunities, as well as, public and private events for our sponsors and members.
