  As an intern on Clif Bar's Community Team, I contributed to their Living Income Cacao Initiative. I traveled to Dominican Republic (DR) to interview cacao farmers in the company's value chain. I synthesized many documents and conversations with key stakeholders, drafting a 35-page report detailing the implementation of the living income project. Collaboration with Clif Bar's DR in-country coordinator was key. Lastly, I researched previous living income projects in West Africa in order to inform Clif Bar's future living income strategy. I compiled this research into a single document to increase ease of accessibility for the community team.

  With City Year I had the opportunity to serve in a 4th grade classroom at the Condon K-7 School in South Boston, providing attendance and behavior coaching as well as academic support. Each day I collaborated with my partner teacher and a team of 15 other AmeriCorps members in order to best support our students both in the classroom and after school. I also served as the Learning and Development Coordinator for my team; in this role, I planned and led educational sessions on topics relevant to our daily service.

  With AmeriCorps NCCC I completed 1700 hours of community service over 10 months while living and working with a diverse team of 10 other Corps Members. AmeriCorps NCCC's mission is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. I collaborated with my teammates and sponsoring organizations to complete various service projects. In Kansas City, MO, my team helped to expand a neighborhood curbside compost program by 200% through direct community outreach. In New Mexico, we served alongside the Bureau of Land Management to build and repair 1,250 feet of public hiking/biking trails and remove 9,000 feet of barbed wire fence from wildlife habitats. Lastly, in Oklahoma we assisted with the development of an Eco-Park on the Osage Nation reservation by clearing over 2 acres of unwanted vegetation, spreading 1,161 feet of wood chips, and chainsawing 12 cords of wood for use at Osage traditional dances. This service required effective communication, planning, and organization to complete the projects in a timely manner. On my team I was responsible for making all food purchases, which required following a strict budget, as well as creating the portfolio for the end of each project. As an Assistant Team Leader, I often led and directed my fellow teammates at the worksite.
