Run and maintain the Husky Make It Space.•Run the 3D printersUtilize Stratasys GrabCAD to set files up for 3D printing. When a student's design has errors or high probability of failure (such as printing extremely fine details, threads for a small screw, etc), I identify what the potential errors or points of failure are in the students design. They then have the option to fix them before printing or proceed with the print with the understanding that it may fail and why. When a student's design is not cost-effective (such as a solid box) or not suitable for 3D printing (such as a screw with threads), I suggest suitable alternatives and explain why they would be better options than 3D printing in those instances.•Run the CO2 laser for cutting/engravingI set up the files in CorelDraw X6 to be sent to the machine and run the cut/engraving, adjusting settings for different materials as needed.• Run the large format Roland and Cannon printersPrint files on banner, sticker-backed vinyl, and window cling material, paper, and other materials as needed.Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw to create cut lines for stickers as needed.• Maintain 3D printers, laser cutter/engraver, and large format printers.Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting for all our equipment.• Assist in the creation of concept models/prototypes/mock-upsUsing creativity and problem-solving skills, I help people bring their ideas into the real world. This may involve helping them select a material for their project, helping them brainstorm a process to create the project, or helping them identify solutions to challenges that are standing in the way of completing the project. Research the possible application of carbon nano-tubes within silicone as a sensor•Investigate the chemical properties of new materials to ensure optimization of fabrication processesAs we began testing our fabrication process, we noticed problems that may be correlated to the chemistry of our material. My responsibility is to verify whether these problems are chemistry related or not. If they are chemistry related, I investigate what we are missing from our process or how our process needs to change.•Assist in the creation of prototypes for material testing processesUtilizing my practical application approach, I help my team members ask "how can I bring this idea into the real world" and help them create prototypes to test as we develop processes to test our materials.•Set up group on Microsoft Teams for team collaboration and central document storageOur team needed a centralized storage and communication platform. So I met with our team lead, the professor overseeing the project, and the IT department on campus to discuss options for our teams needs. Once we determined that Microsoft teams was the appropriate software for our needs, I assisted in the setup and administration of our group. Show less

    • Quality Engineering Intern
      • Apr 2022 - Jul 2022

•Performed first article inspections Using High QA software, I would verify and document that the first limited production run of new parts was made to specification of the part drawings. When a part failed inspection, I identified what failed on the part and worked with the engineers and floor production to determine why that part failed. •Calibrated all protractors, micrometers, calipers, and metal squares I performed the in-house calibration for all the above equipment. I then entered and tracked the tool calibration data in High QA. •Exposure to sheet metal fabrication processes and equipment I observed many processes throughout the plant, learning the names and functions of the various tools and machinery within the various departments. I developed relationships with people across the various departments who were able to help me identify quality problem points in various processes. Show less

    • Project Administrative Assistant
      • Aug 2015 - Jan 2016

Assisted with planning phase of a software transition project to move all departments from JD Edwards to SAP resource management system • Collected and organized business process project documentation This included creating a OneNote notebook that showed the status of all documents in real time so we could see which documents needed review or clarification, and which documents were considered complete. We were then able to take that information and set up meetings with the appropriate people to fill in gaps in the documentation or get clarification as necessary. This document was later expanded and used to track the creation and status of process flow documents. • Coordinated with team members to ensure documentation met project requirements I worked closely with the application manager to make sure that the documentation had the level of detail necessary for her to recreate within SAP the structure to input and access the information that everyone across the business was using within JD Edwards. This often meant shadowing someone for a day or a couple hours as they went through their tasks so that I could collect that information. • Assisted in the creation of process flows to streamline business processes within SAP Once the documentation was complete, we started creating process flows. The goal was to trace the flow of information within a department and between multiple departments to identify opportunities for optimization when the structure was created in SAP. Show less

    • Engineering Intern
      • Jun 2014 - Dec 2014

Learned about the controls and automation field of engineering and gained industry exposure • Gained exposure to programmable logic controllers and vision systems I was given a battery of assessments through Rockwell Automation as an introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLC), variable frequency drives (VFD), and human machine interfaces (HMI). I also shadowed the controls engineer, going with on trips into the plants to learn and assist in troubleshooting equipment. • Gathered systems process data for engineering projects I collected water volume samples for assessment of a portion of the hydration process. • Assisted in the analysis of data for vision system production process One of the tasks I did was analyze the images of cans rejected by the vision system (termed "rejects") to determine what portion were faulty and what kind of error the system thought was occurring as well as whether or not that error actually occurred (such as whether the can had no lid, whether the date was not printed on the lid or was too light to read, etc). • Developed an Excel financial worksheet for the Faribault plant location Show less
