Senior Manager of E-Commerce Operations (Contract)

Apr 2020 - Nov 2021
I was responsible for our e-commerce store, email and SMS marketing programs, paid social and PPC and was involved in all parts of the e-commerce side of the business. I worked closely with the marketing team to maintain brand voice and style across all communications. As part of my role, I managed weekly email campaigns, set up automated email flows and launched our SMS program (from 0 to over 40k subscribers in a year). I also managed product launches and sales. In addition. I took over paid social advertising from an agency, increasing ROAS+ in the process. In every area of our e-commerce business we broke industry benchmarks for engagement and conversion rates. As part of what was initially a small team, I assisted with everything from streamlining customer service, developing editorial calendars and processes, and managing freelance designers and developers. Additionally, as the business has grown, I played a part in identifying how the department needs to be structured to support our ongoing success. Show less

Digital Communications Officer
-
Jan 2012 - Jun 2014
Day-to-day: I write and source images for regular emails sent to over 20,000 subscribers. I utilise techniques such as A/B testing, segmentation, personalisation and auto-responders to drive open rates and engagement. In January 2014 I redesigned the email template to be mobile friendly and increase open rates. In the time I have been with the Trust email open rates increased from 20% to over 60% in some cases. I co-ordinate all digital content for our website, social media accounts, and assist in the production of regular audio and video content. I regularly refresh webpages to ensure they are engaging and effective. In the time that I have been with the Trust web traffic has increased 20-30% each year. I use Google Analytics and Crowdbooster to analyse the effectiveness of our communications and measure our conversion rates. Key projects: 1. Launching a new website in March 2012. This included working out the information architecture, creating content for over thirty webpages and editing/refining the content for over a hundred additional pages. 2. Managing the creation and deployment of a 'kiosk' style website for use on a touchscreen at a visitor centre. This included designing the site, coding a drupal 6 template, installing drupal 6 to a localhost server, and utilising chromes 'kiosk' mode. I also worked with an external developer to produce an interactive map. 3. Co-ordinating and writing the digital communications for two successful land-purchase appeals. This included setting up the justgiving pages, producing material for our website, writing and sending several emails over the course of the appeals, and all social media posts. Both appeals raised over £30,000 in online donations. Show less

PR & Community Management
-
Jul 2007 - Jul 2009
Day-to-day: I promoted existing video games and new releases by using social media and writing and submitting press releases to online and offline news outlets. Wrote and designed HTML newsletter for mailing list of 20k+ subscribers. Managed a writing team of 4-6 volunteers. Engaged with the community on the web forums, keeping them invested in our company, asking users to provide feedback on betas and mods, and engaging them with content with contests, competitions and 'quirky' content. Key projects: 1. Organising a local LAN gaming event to promote an upcoming game release. This involved engaging with the local community, local radio as well as follow up publicity through edited screencasts of the gameplay. 2. Setting up a blog aimed at aspiring video game developers. I wrote weekly posts, engaged with other game developers and attracted a small but dedicated readership. 3. Working with another writer to set up a blog from the perspective of fictional characters in the video game world we were promoting. It was an excellent way to use character driven storytelling to engage people with our world and get them to invest in the conflict at the core of the games. It also allowed us to create more nuance and complexity within the Iron Grip universe. 4. Assisting with the development of a new website, including the rebuilding of the community forum. Show less
