Bio
Bob Sirkis
Susan is an impressive woman with a passion for running the Wiregrass Museum of Art. She has strong interpersonal skills and is excellent at community relations. She must deal with a wide range of constituents, from our local mayor, city manager and city commissioners, each with their own agenda, to sponsors and benefactors without whom the museum could not function. She seems to be able to charm everyone yet stays true to her ideals and her vision for the museum. Susan is an effective manager. She has a small professional staff of under-compensated individuals who share Susan’s enthusiasm for the museum and who work well together. Her management style is flexible – she can keep people on task when necessary but is good at giving people a great deal of leeway and ownership and letting them succeed on their own.

My opportunity to work with Susan was in her role as Director of Programs and Marketing at the Anniston Museum of Natural History. Her project leader and marketing skills were quickly in evidence as well as her ebullient "can do" attitude. She exemplifies the "whatever it takes" mantra, including extended work days and weekends for critical projects. Her ability to engage both professional staff and volunteers combined with her skill sets and experience makes Susan a valued asset to the organization for which she works and a prime candidate for most any top leadership position.

Susan has demonstrated extraordinary energy, vision and drive in her time at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. She is able to manage the many demands of that facility and its staff and yet still stop and give an impromptu tour to a family wanting to see the Museum on a moment's notice. Susan is capable of anything asked of her and is an amazing resource.
