Susan and I have crossed paths many times over the last several years at 3M, however in the last two years I have had the opportunity to work very closely with Susan. In this recent past Susan and I worked to develop a new business platform for 3M. She represented the business development and marketing role while I managed the technology development. During this partnership I have grown to appreciate what a strong business leader, like Susan, can do for a program. There are several characteristics that I appreciated most about Susan. She has the ability to create a vision, garner support for the vision, and rally people to achieve the vision. Along the way, she is a great team leader and motivates people. She is energizing and people want to be on her teams. She has a style that is very inclusive to others, she values input and gives credit to her teams. Susan is an excellent business developer with a practical perspective that allows her to get to the key issues quickly. With her strong marketing skills and her training as a Design for Six Sigma black belt, she is very effective at driving new product introductions. Her broad understanding of business and her interest/understanding in technology is a combination not typically found in a business leader. She easily navigates through the complexities of bringing new to the world products and technologies to the market. In addition, Susan has an excellent rapport with customers. This skill proved extremely advantageous to our teams as she visited customers to gather critical market data and customers needs which helped guide the direction for our laboratory efforts. Lastly, Susan is passionate about her work. She is committed to achieving the goals she sets and at the same time she is committed to her colleagues. She is always willing to help others and is fun to work with. Working with Susan has been one of my most enjoyable and rewarding experiences during my 25 year career at 3M.

I have known Susan for many years and directly managed her for two. She is smart, hardworking and results orientated. Her marketing skills are very good and I would have no hesitation recommending her for a manager or higher level iposition in marketing.
