Susan, in just over a year at Samsung, took a bare bones AWS control panel + On-prem Kubernetes cluster, and did all the work necessary for making that into a production cluster. During the process, she worked with the team, IT and contractors to solve networking and firewall issues as well storage issues for the cluster. Finally, she also worked with other development groups to onboard their docker workloads to this Kubernetes cluster. She was only given the charter and she went ahead and did whatever was necessary - coming up with alternatives for solutions, working with contracting companies and IT to facilitate etc. She is a great team member and was able to get things done that required co-operation from other teams as well.

Xinh joined my web search data and analysis team from the web graph team at Yahoo!. In our team, she got to do production work from backend to frontend systems as well as applied research with massive data on hadoop clusters and web search clusters. On top of that, she managed to publish research papers. She was a very solid and effective engineer and applied researcher. She was one of the team members that I had no worries about the execution of what's been committed: She always delivered her projects on time and with quality (including documentation and testing). She was one of the rare engineers that even when a need was vaguely defined, she could mange the rest and deliver a comprehensive and well thought-out solution successfully. What also impressed me was that she was able to use her time very efficiently. Due to what happened to the company we loved to work at, we all ended up in new adventures; in the case of Xinh, she wanted to deep dive more into applied research at a national lab. Yet if she decides to change her job, I would not hesitate to hire her right away.
