I am Case Manager for the Southern Energy Training Consortium (SETC) grant at Southwest. We recruited 274 students into the SETC grant which exceeds our goal of 200 students, 223 students completed at least one modified course, of that 106 completed and obtained their technical certificate or degree which exceeds our goal of 100, and to date- 78 have obtained employment-our goal is to 112 find employment by July 2012. The Southern Energy Training Consortium (SETC) is a partnership formed by the Memphis Bioworks Foundation between four regional community colleges and the Department of Labor to provide training and tuition assistance for participants interested in green jobs. Through collaboration among energy efficiency and renewable energy employers in both existing and emerging industries, the SETC will train and teach workers the skills required for emerging energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors to prepare workers for successful careers in the green economy.
