Working in the Aerospace/Defense industry has given me the ability to work in a high demand, intense work environment. Deadline appreciation was mandatory. Customer retention and satisfaction was my top priority. Research varied from job to job depending on the customer’s needs. I am very familiar with various internet databases, such as Haystack, ILS, NSN Now among others. I worked with Air Force, Army, Navy Technical Manuals, parts breakdowns and drawing prints to gather information and find sources. Managing and training individuals was a rewarding experience. Team work was a critical component. Responsibilities included overseeing the bidding department; supervising staff and assigning their workload; mentoring and training them as needed; and helping determine mark-ups and margins based on commissions; production of monthly reports on order intake; all while maintaining a workload as a cost estimator. Reviewed customers’ requirements; performed necessary research, including parts breakdowns, government history for procurement, and contacting vendors for price and delivery. Compiled gathered information for entry into database for bidding purposes. Prepared bids and proposals, submitted to customer by their required deadline. These bids were usually required within two days to three weeks; these timelines were consistently met regardless of workload. Performed production manager duties such as organizing and assessing the production department Assumed duties of purchasing and managing work orders for parts and subassembies. Supported purchasing department as needed to maintain workload in times of staff shortages. I am experienced in price negotiations, BOM’s and part requirements.
