Apr 2000 - Apr 2009
Nurse Manager: Cardiac Catheterization/ Electrophysiology Lab, 2004 to 2009Cardiac Catheterization Lab Registered Nurse, 2000 to 2004In these roles, I managed two procedural areas of 51 employees and one nursing unit of 46 employees and clinicians per day. I also identified opportunities for improvement and implemented key programs to boost care outcomes, quality assurance, and overall survey results. I maintained strict compliance with regulatory guidelines, while also interfacing with upper-level executives to support business needs.• Redesign Project, built two, $1.3M swing procedure labs so that one room could be utilized for different types of procedures which decreased room downtime, decreased overtime, increased operational efficiency, reduced overhead costs and increased customer volume.• Reduced overhead expenditure by $66K per year for three years by consolidating vendors, increasing amount of reprocessing and sterilization of devices and equipment and bargaining for free capital equipment in exchange for purchasing bulk devices.• Spearheaded cross-training of 30 nurses and six X-ray technologists so that they were interchangeable in the roles except for duties assigned by their professional license which eliminated agency staff for a cost savings of $300K a year.• Transformed culture of employees by mentoring, training and working with them in the work environment, improving employee satisfaction and organizational dynamics.
