Community project funded by Regional Arts Victoria ($350,000). The project called ‘enLIGHTen Me: I have a Hall in my Heart’, focused on turning the local mechanics institute hall into an arts and cultural asset for the wider community. The project empowered the community to re-engage with the community hall; teach new skills that would sustain the space’s ongoing cultural development; honour the halls history in a contemporary context with multiple permanent and ephemeral artwork. The project incorporated the works of internationally renowned projection/multimedia artist, Craig Walsh and Metanonia Theatre Company. During this project a further $350,000 was received from the Australian Federal Government’s Building Better Regions program. This additional funding was used to enhance the project by enabling a hall renovation, landscaping and technical improvements.
