Archaeological Supervisor

I have worked for Thames Valley Archaeological Services (TVAS) since 2008 with promotion to Archaeological Supervisor in early 2011. This role involves supervision of archaeological watching brief’s, small to medium scale evaluations and large open area sites. Additionally this includes supervising and training a number of staff on site, interaction with clients either in person, on the phone or via email, and interaction with the general public. I am also required to produce archaeological site reports for archive and publication. In addition to my role as archaeological supervisor I also produce technical reports on Roman coins, acting as an in-house specialist to TVAS for both published and archival site reports. Where possible these reports deal with the coins both on an individual level and as a whole assemblage, from which (provided a suitable number of coins have been recovered) it is often possible to work out periods of loss across the site, allowing dates of occupation to be postulated.
