Over the years, I worked with many professionals on Susan's team (I on the Business side, and her team on the IT side). As a result, I have been on numerous conference calls with her and her team (we are located in different states within the U.S.). In my observation, Susan always tries to do the "right thing". I've never observed her taking a stance from only her -- or her functional area's -- perspective. She has the unusual ability to look at issues from many different perspectives. In addition, I must mention that she is one of the most intelligent people I have worked with (I use "intelligence" in a broad sense here, including emotional and political intelligence in addition to the manifestation of high mental capacity). Last but not least, I have always felt the great respect that Susan's team has for her. This is something completely unspoken and unseen (especially considering I have never met her or her team members in person); however, you know it's there when you work with her team. She has this strength and authority felt in very subtle ways. This could only have been obtained by a gentle approach like Susan's. A gentleness that is true strength.
