Short version : I broke things.Long version: I managed testing activities for the Structures and Transportation Group at FMI. This included in-house laboratories as well as field testing activities. It didn't always involve breaking things, testing also included non-destructive testing, which of course is not as much fun. Over the ten years I was at FMI, my test articles included commercial aircraft fuselage panels, military aircraft wing spars, overhead catenary wire, lots of railroad track, locomotive frames, rocket propelled grenade shells, the Tobin Bridge, and many other bizarre items. I also had the amazing opportunity to crash trains under an FRA contract.

I spent the year between my junior and senior years at WPI working at ASC in the Electrical Measurements Lab. I regularly performed electrical measurement tests of superconductor prototype samples, but also designed and manufactured new test probes specifically for cryogenic environments.
